Just a Little Encouragement

This isn’t about school or research or social commentary, just a little encouragement ? When I was in undergrad, I used to give impromptu, mini “sermons” to my friends in my dorm room. We are spread across different states now, but yesterday would have given me a great little anecdote to sermonize!

I found this in my tire yesterday. I only caught it by chance when leaving the store and didn’t dare pull it out. Unexpected car expenses are not what I need right now. I could have driven around for days without any problems. I was DREADING paying for a new tire and throwing off my schedule but I faced it head on.

I snapped a pic and sent it to my mechanic. He texted back that I was probably going to need a new tire bc of the positioning of the nail. When he saw it in person today, he said it looked much bigger in the pic on his phone. He pulled the nail out- and nothing happened. The nail had not gone through tire without piercing the inner tube. He checked the pressure on all of my tires and sent me on my way.

I was in my car laughing, thanking God, and thinking about the moments like this that prompted my amateur sermonettes in college when a friend called me. She was incredibly frustrated. I listened to her vent, asked what I could do to help, and shared what had just happened with her.
The sooner you address a problem, the sooner you can move on. My car was driving just fine WITH the nail. My tire pressure was normal, and the dashboard light never came on. Regardless, I KNEW something was potentially wrong. Dealing with this head on ended up leading to great news instead of more stress. Who knows, riding around a bit longer could have made it worse.

Sometimes our fears and frustrations are bigger than our actual problems. Bumps in the road suck. But upon inspection, the holes they leave don’t have the power to throw you off track. You will have enough air to go on. The nail might puncture your armor, but it won’t puncture YOU.

Just a little encouragement for whatever nails may be threatening your peace right now ?
